Register Online
If you have a current NY State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) issued driver license, permit or non-driver ID, you can register to vote online. You can also make changes to a current registration. Changes of party enrollment will take effect immediately except that changes of enrollment received in the period between February 16, and seven days after the primary would be effective on the seventh day after the June Primary.

Register By Mail
If you do not have the required DMV documentation to register online, or prefer to register by mail, you can fill out the online form. After filling out the form, print it and mail it. This can also be used to make changes to your current registration. The address for your county Board of Elections is provided on the form. If you would like a registration form mailed directly to you instead of using the online form, click here.

Choosing a Political Party
While registering to vote, you have the option to enroll in a political party. There are more than two parties to choose from, and by enrolling in a political party you become eligible to vote in the primaries of that party. If you do not want to enroll in a party, choose the “No party” option. To learn more about the platform for the political parties listed, choose from the following: Democratic, Republican, Conservative, Working Families, Green, Libertarian, Independence, and SAM party. You can also write in the name of a party that is not listed on the “Other” line provided.
